The Siam Hotel

The Siam is one of the best luxury boutique hotels in Thailand, located by the Chao Phraya River, just a 15-minute luxury speedboat ride down river to the Grand Palace, the Sky Train and other sights in Bangkok.

The Siam is an impeccable 39-room boutique hotel on Bangkok’s riverside in a serene location amongst 3-acres of premium river frontage.

The result of collaboration between well-known Thai singer and actor Krissada Sukosol Clapp and designer Bill Bensley, The Siam recalls a bygone era in a beautifully designed boutique hotel mixing priceless antiques, art-deco design, Oriental allure and contemporary comforts.

Choose between spacious and luxurious Suites, private pool villas or a restored antique Thai teakwood house.

Each room has been individually designed with original turn of the century oriental artwork and antiques, high ceilings, luxurious bathrooms and meticulous attention to detail.

Sprawling gardens and the riverside location create a natural feel.

The Siam offers transport and excursions by hotel boat, has a great spa and a romantic riverfront bar, perfect for cocktails at sunset.

What’s so Special?

The Siam is our favourite luxury boutique hotel in Bangkok. The Siam really is a very special Bangkok hotel, with impeccable and genuine service and a real sense of style throughout.

The Siam exudes style and design at first sight, whether it’s in the black and white art deco tiled floors and spacious galleries or the water feature in the main entrance.

For a real sense of history, stay in Connie’s Cottage, originally sourced by silk tycoon Jim Thompson and socialite owner Connie Mangskau. In this house Connie entertained an array of dignitaries in her time, such as Jacqueline Kennedy and Henry Ford.

The gym has a Thai boxing ring, should the inclination grab you.

Bear in Mind

The location might not be for everyone, so bear in mind the short boat journey from the centre of Bangkok.

Chon Thai Restaurant and cooking school

Chon is the Thai word for spoon: a symbol of service, dining and sharing. At The Siam’s signature Thai restaurant and cooking school, enjoy a truly, local meal while enjoying some fascinating history.

Set within a cluster of three, century-old Thai teakwood houses which were once part of antique dealer and OSS agent Connie Mangksau’s home, this hallowed venue entertained global glitterati the likes of Jackie Kennedy, John Rockerfeller, Roger Moore, William Holden and Henry Ford to name but a few.

Sip on Connie’s favourite Thai tipple of whisky soda whilst sampling The Siam’s revival of traditional, home-cooked Thai cuisine and surrender to Chon’s authentic charm overlooking the Chao Phraya River and its spectacular sunsets.

Thai cooking classes are also available.

Bathers Bar

Adjacent to the infinity pool along the riverfront lawn, the Bathers Bar offers guests refreshing, light snacks, poolside bites and drinks after a soothing, cool dip.

Sit back in your spacious daybed and sip on sunset cocktails while taking in the views over the majestic Chao Phraya River.

Deco Bar and Bistro

The snappy black & white interiors of Deco Bar & Bistro bring to life Thailand’s Art Deco period, with international comfort cuisine inspired by the jazzy ambiance.

Split over 2 levels accessible by a vintage-mirrored, Escher-esque staircase with soaring ceilings, Deco Bar & Bistro houses a dazzling display of wall-mounted brass instruments while offering cosy booths, chic tables and stylish bar seating alongside an outdoor roof terrace.

Bountiful breakfasts, languid light lunches, sundowner small plates and decadent dinners are all served up at Dec Bar and Bistro.

Pre or post dinner, sit back and admire the stunning juxtaposition of Chon’s old Thai roofs through the contemporary black glass facade. Open all day, this is the perfect place for casual chic dining evoking the lively atmosphere of a bygone era.

Café Cha’

Café Cha is open every afternoon for a popular and delicious afternoon tea. Not to be missed!

Facilities

The Siam has a nice little swimming pool by the river, with a pool bar. It's not a large pool, but spacious enough for the boutique size of the resort, especially considering many villas have private plunge pools.

Those with an inclination to try Thai boxing should definitely take advantage of a lesson in the Muay Thai ring.

The screening room shows movies in a small antique style cinema (complete with salvaged retro cinema seats).

The spa is spectacular - certainly a step up from the average hotel spa and on a par with the best in Bangkok.

Facilities:

  • Infinity Swimming Pool with Jacuzzi beds
  • Gym with Outdoor Yoga Terrace Spa with Bath House, Steam & Sauna Children’s Splash Pool Hair & Nail Salon
  • Period Library with Internet & Screening Room Conservatory + Roof Garden Riverfront Lawn
  • Antique Gift Shop Art Gallery
