Casa Del Rio is one of the best boutique hotels in Malacca, offering 66 luxuriously appointed rooms located by the idyllic Malacca River near the entrance to the historic straits.
Casa Del Rio is just a stone's throw away from the heart of the historic World Heritage city of Malacca. The architectural design pays tribute to Malacca’s Portuguese heritage as well as the unique Malacca Sultanate.
The uncomplicated and direct approach combines local stone, stucco and wood not unlike its elegant sister property, the popular boutique resort Casa Del Mar in Langkawi.
The warm Mediterranean colours of magenta, yellow and ochre over terracotta go well with the old wrought iron railings and ornamental lighting and provide a touch of the Mediterranean to Casa del Rio.
What’s so Special?
Malacca is as close to the International Airport as Kuala Lumpur and a stay in Malacca is a great alternative to Kuala Lumpur.
The main categories of rooms are the Deluxe Lago and Deluxe River View. Both types of rooms have a split-level floor space (50 sq. m.).
All rooms at Casa Del Rio are engagingly decorated in Mediterranean style with a touch of Peranakan flair.
Deluxe Room
Deluxe Rooms consists of a dressing room, a large bathroom, bedroom and private balcony overlooking either the courtyard Lago or Melaka River.
The dressing room off the entrance hall provides generous hanging space, a double luggage rack and six drawers plus soft white towelling robes and slippers. There is direct access to the bathroom from the dressing area.
The marble lined bathrooms have separate shower and a tub big enough for two, with bathroom shutters opening onto the bedroom (and TV).
Balconies feature a chair, table and small sofa-divan and the added luxury of a ceiling fan.

Bar Rio
Located at the western end of the hotel overlooking the river and out to the Straits, Bar Rio is the place to be as the sun sets and the day cools.
With beers on tap, Bar Rio also offers a variety of boutique beers, wines and spirits including a variety of Soju and Sake, with a list of contemporary and classic cocktails.
All this enjoyed in the unique setting by the riverside or in one of the private cabanas in the Lago at the centre of the hotel.
River Grill
Breakfast is a continental buffet, bakery & toast stations and an extensive a la carte selection of hot contemporary dishes supplemented by just squeezed juices, fresh ground coffee and loose-leaf teas.
Lunch consists of fixed price lunch menus.
River Cafe
Perched right in the Southeast corner of the hotel is the most immediately accessible part of the hotel by the river.
In the evening, the River Cafe becomes a wine and sushi bar offering a range of fresh seafood items to complement a list of wines, sake, soju and cocktails.
