Right at the North Western tip of Palawan, El Nido is a stunningly scenic area, a showcase of Palawan’s geology and diverse wildlife with majestic limestone cliffs and amazing underwater life.

The most striking feature of El Nido is its scenic landscape - massive limestone islands of varying shapes and sizes scattered about the sparkling sea.

Amongst this setting sits El Nido’s Lagen Island Resort; set in a cove, fringed by a thick primary 4-hectare forest, El Nido Lagen Island is ideal for couples or small families seeking a relaxing holiday an a private and tranquil island.

The resort offers a magnificent view of Bacuit Bay and the El Nido sunset. The surrounding forest and stunning limestone cliffs serve as a sanctuary for a diverse variety of birds and mammals. The underwater world of course is spectacular and there is great snorkelling and diving around the resort.

Lagen Island Resort offers 50 modern rooms, suites and cottages and is ideal for couples and honeymooners.

Rates for El Nido Lagen are inclusive of all meals, and most activities such as snorkelling and island hopping trips are included free of charge.

What’s so Special?

Few resorts in Asia offer such a pristine and dramatic natural setting. At the back of the resort is a trail that passes through a forest and ends in a private cove. For bird-watchers or anyone who enjoys nature this is a real delight.

Under water things are even more spectacular with great snorkelling right by the resort or at any number of nearby sites. Divers won’t be disappointed either.

If comparing El Nido Resorts, Lagen is a step up in quality from both Apulit and Miniloc and is more suited to couples than Miniloc.

Bear in mind

There is only a small stretch of sandy beach at Lagen itself. Beach lovers won’t be disappointed however as there are several superb stretches of sand nearby including El Nido’s own beach clubs.

Meals are all included and served buffet style. There are enough options to satisfy most although don’t expect gourmet dining or anything too exciting – a stay at El Nido is not for gourmands. El Nido operates a sustainable dining policy, and salad greens are grown in the resort’s gardens.

Lagen Island Resort has a total of 50 rooms that incorporate antique timber recycled from old Filipino homes for floors and furnishings to evoke charm and quiet luxury.

Designed for maximum tranquillity and calm, all rooms feature full-height sliding glass doors that open to a private veranda. Views are either of the cove, the cliffs, the bay or the sunset.

Forest Rooms

There are 20 Forest Rooms located at the fringe of the forest. These rooms are a generous size (52 sq. m.) and can accommodate a maximum of three people.

Forest Rooms are clusters of rooms built adjacent to each other. The 2 complexes offer accommodation on upper and lower floors.

Forest Rooms 201-211 are in the complex nearest the clubhouse. Rooms 301-311 are in the complex nearest the arrivals area.

There are just 4 rooms with Double beds. All others have Twin Beds.

Forest Suites

These Queen-bedded Cottages (70 sq. m.) are the most luxurious rooms at El Nido Lagen, located above the Forest Rooms. Apart from the standard Lagen room amenities, the suites are equipped with TVs and DVD in room safe, a lounge, and a bathtub.

There are 18 Water Cottages built on stilts above the water, and nine Beachfront Cottages with a panoramic view of the cove. Each of these rooms has a 53sqm floor area designed for three.

Water Cottages

These 18 free-standing Cottages (53 sq. m.) are built on stilts, connected by a boardwalk. Cottages 101 – 108 are located on the South Wing providing easy access to the arrival area and to the resort’s clubhouse.

Cottages 109 – 118 are situated at the North Wing ideal for guests requiring more privacy as foot traffic on this side is light – so better suited for couples and honeymooners. 6 Water Cottages have double beds, the remainder have twins which can be combined if required.

Beachfront Cottages

The 9 Beachfront Cottages (53 sq. m.) are located at the waterfront offering one with the best view of the cove and of the El Nido sunset. All blocks are built with duplex rooms, except for Beach Cottage 124, which is the only detached cottage.

Lagen’s Beachfront Cottages are ideal for families as they provide convenient access to the swimming pool and the clubhouse.

Dining

At Lagen Island’s Clubhouse is the air-conditioned main dining area. Buffet and a la carte meals are served here.

The sound of waves gently lapping at the beach accompanied by the ambient reflection of lights on the pool creates a memorable dining experience under the stars.

Private dining locations can be arranged both within the resorts and around Bacuit Bay.

Facilities

Recreational facilities include a swimming pool, spa suite, massage cabana, and a marine sports centre. There is a boutique, games area, library, a garden chapel for intimate weddings. Steady but not fast Wi-Fi is available in the clubhouse and restaurant.

Marine Sports Centre: diving & snorkelling equipment, kayaks, windsurfs, and hobie-cats.

Activities available at Lagen Island Resort include hiking, lagoon tours, cave tours, mangrove river tours, bottom fishing, bird watching, hat making, picnic lunches, sunset cruising, kayaking, windsurfing, hobie-cat sailing, snorkelling, diving, and with prior arrangement, dive courses.
