Right at the North Western tip of Palawan Island, El Nido is a stunningly scenic area, a showcase of Palawan’s geology, with majestic limestone cliffs and amazing underwater life.

The most striking feature of El Nido is its scenic landscape - massive limestone islands of varying shapes and sizes scattered about the sparkling sea. The sea lapping the sand fringed shores is often crystal clear.

Miniloc Island Resort is set in a cove with a backdrop of sheer limestone cliffs and is ideal for an exotic family holiday to the Philippines, especially for those who want to combine a relaxing holiday with plenty of sea based activities.

Reminiscent of a coastal village, Miniloc’s quaint charm is enhanced by its crystal clear waters teeming with tropical fish and rich in marine life.

There is a range of accommodation at El Nido Miniloc, from fairly simple Cliff Cottages to Sea View Rooms on stilts over the water which are perfect for couples, all set in one of the most charming spots in the whole of Asia. The style is rustic and native.

What’s so Special?

It’s all about the activities at Miniloc. There’s no need to do anything of course, but if you wish, snorkelling, kayaking, lagoon excursions and much more are on offer on a daily basis – most are included.

Just off the pier end, snorkellers will find 3 foot long groupers, hundreds of sergeant majors, damsel fish, fusiliers, and other multi-coloured tropical fish. Turtles are frequently seen and huge shoals of fish dazzle from the sunlight just beneath the water.

The Big and Small Lagoons are just a short kayak ride away from the resort.

Bear in mind

Miniloc is the most family orientated of El Nido’s four resorts. Accommodation caters well for families and there are plenty of on land and on sea activities for younger ones. This isn’t to say that it’s not suitable for couples as well – just don’t expect a child-free hideaway.

The Garden Cottages are rather simple – in the style of nipa-palm huts. They are quite compact and simply furnished. The over-water bungalows are also small. The Sea View Rooms are much more spacious with larger bathrooms. There are no TV’s in any of the rooms (El Nido Lagen has them).

Meals are all included and served buffet style. There are enough options to satisfy most although don’t expect gourmet dining or anything too exciting – a stay at El Nido is not for gourmands. El Nido operates a sustainable dining policy, and salad greens are grown in the resort’s gardens.

The cottages and rooms at Miniloc Island Resort are built with thatched roofs and furnished with indigenous Filipino materials. Local character is evident in the wooden floors and the walls made of woven bamboo slats and in the hand made bamboo and rattan furniture.

All cottages and rooms are air-conditioned with private verandas offering views of the cove and the nearby islands.

The decor and interiors of these Cottages use native Filipino materials to create a very natural ambiance.

Miniloc Island Resort has a total of 50 rooms with a variety of accommodation styles: 7 Water Cottages (24 sq. m.), and

Garden Cottages

There are 13 rather simple and compact Garden Cottages, which are the most economical accommodation at Miniloc and are located just a little off the back of the beach area amongst the tropical foliage

At 27 square metres, the Garden Cottages are small and the feel is quite native and rustic (think ‘posh beach hut’).

They can accommodate an extra person but it would be quite a squeeze.

Cliff Cottages

There are 3 Cliff Cottages, which are a generously sized 42 sq. m. Each can accommodate up to 5 people.

Set up on the Cliffside, these cottages offer great views of Bacuit Bay.

The stairway to get to the Cliff Cottages is a bit steep and narrow so these rooms aren’t recommended for families with young children.

Beachside Rooms

The 12 Beachside rooms are set in 3 two-storey buildings right on the edge of the beach area.

Rooms have a large terrace, generous bathroom and views over the beach and the cove. Upstairs, the ceilings are very high creating a feeling of space.

Sea View Rooms

Newly renovated in 2013, Sea View Rooms (42.5 sq. m.) are located in a terrace of rooms overlooking the lagoon and can accommodate up to 5 guests.

Water Cottages

The Water Cottages are ideal for couples or honeymooners. Although quite compact (27 sq. m.) the over water location is a nice feature.

Deluxe Sea View Rooms

Ten Deluxe Sea View Rooms (44 sq. m.) have been designed to showcase Miniloc Island Resort as an eco-friendly resort.

Built on stilts and surrounded by tropical foliage, all 10 rooms are wholly powered by solar energy and installed with an efficient lighting system and ceiling fans.

Deluxe Sea View Rooms can accommodate two people only and offer spectacular views of Bacuit Bay.

Dining

Miniloc Island Resort serves only sustainable menus. Vegetables are organically grown in the resort’s gardens. International cuisine and local dishes are offered at the Clubhouse Restaurant.

Dining is also offered at nearby Lagen Island Resort. Enjoy island lunch at Dibuluan Beach Club, or have a picnic at Entalula Beach Club, all of which are operated by El Nido Resorts.

Unique dinners for guests both within Miniloc Island Resort and around Bacuit Bay are also offered including beach dining or dinner on a raft in the big lagoon.
