Hotel by the Red Canal in Mandalay is a boutique hotel in the centre of Mandalay, just 5 minutes from Mandalay Palace.

The Hotel by the Red Canal is something of an oasis in Mandalay and features lush tropical gardens, water features and a décor which pays homage to Burma’s rich heritage.

There are just 25 Suites at Hotel by the Red Canal, designed in 4 different themes which reflect 4 of the major ethnic groups of the region.

What’s so Special?

We think Hotel by the Red Canal is the best place to stay in Mandalay, and the location is great.

The National Palace is just at the end of the street and Mandalay Hill is only a short trishaw ride away.

Suites

There are 4 different styles of Suite at the hotel, each named after one of Burma's main ethnic groups. The decor in each Suite reflects the different ethnic heritage of each group.

All Chin and Shan suites feature a balcony overlooking the swimming pool and garden green whilst the ground floor Chin suites feature a 'water moat'.

The Rakhine suites are the most spacious suites.

An outdoor shower with a slate wall of cascading water is the highlight of the Kachin suites which are ideal for honeymooners.

Spice Garden

Spice Garden is a chic elegant restaurant serving Myanmar , Northern and Southern Indian cuisines with a focus on poultry, seafood and vegetarian dishes.

Justifiably proud to be the only Indian-Myanmar fine dining restaurant in Mandalay , the Owner/General Manager subscribes to a policy of only preparing food for the same day itself to ensure guests are served the freshest quality food.

Feast on main courses of chicken and fish specialties to the accompaniment of freshly baked rotis (home-made Indian breads) and Biryanis (Indian pilaf and basmati rice specialities).

The desserts menu is small but nonetheless packs a punch with a strong Indian cast of sinfully sweet Rasmalai , Gulab Jamun and Kheer sharing top billing with a selection of Myanmar sweets including semolina cake and to stewed banana in coconut milk.

Hotel by the Red Canal has a nice outdoor swimming pool and a small workout room.
