The Lanjia Lodge, ('Lanjia' means ‘peaceful’ in the Hmong language), is an eco-friendly community-based lodge nestled high on a hill in Chiang Rai Province, northern Thailand, just 30 minutes from the Thailand-Laos border crossing.

Lanjia Lodge offers comfortable accommodation in a Hmong village, combining experiences of Hmong culture with eco-friendly tours such as hiking and Hmong batik class.

Offering dramatic views of the Mekong Valley and Laos, the lodge has 4 guest cottages with a total of 16 rooms. It is built in complete harmony with the lush green environment as well as the Hmong and Lahu villages in which it is located.

The lodge is only 30 minute drive to the Thailand-Laos border and immigration check-point where you can take an overnight Luang Say cruise to the world heritage site of Luang Prabang, Laos.

Day One

You will be collected from your hotel in Chiang Mai or Chiang Rai and transferred to Lanjia Lodge.

Arrive at Lanjia Lodge about 4 pm. Herbal juice will be served while you are checking in at the lodge.

Watch a presentation about the Hmong and Lahu tribes, the Golden triangle area and the giant catfish (locally known as Pla Buek) – the world’s biggest fresh water fish found in the Mekong River.

Learn about activities that affect the Mekong River and people whose lives depend on the river.

Enjoy dinner and watch traditional Hmong performances.  ​

Day Two

After breakfast, depart for the Thailand-Burma border at Mae Sai District (on your own expense, you can cross the border to Burma to visit Takhilek Market).

Afterwards drive along the border via Baan Pha Mee to visit Wat Prathat Doi Tung, Doi Chang Mub arboretum garden and Doi Tung Palace.

Have lunch at a local restaurant and in the afternoon, drive to the Golden Triangle to visit the Hall of Opium.

Board a long-tail boat for a cruise on the Mekong River down to a fishing village called Baan Had Bai before returning to the lodge.
