The Manatee Amazon Explorer offers 3, 4 and 7 nights Amazon River Cruises in Ecuador's Amazon basin.
With just 14 cabins, the Manatee offers an intimate and boutique Amazon River Cruise experience, accommodating a maximum of 30 passengers.
Begin with a short flight (or longer drive) from Quito to Coca, the gateway to the Ecuadorian Amazon.
From here it's a 2 hour journey by large motorised canoe to board the Amazon Explorer.
The Manatee Amazon Explorer is equipped with a small fleet of rugged and versatile motorized canoes, which provide great mobility and allow for the exploration of the most remote areas and inaccessible shores of this area of the Amazon.
The guides aboard the Manatee are first rate and a cruise offers a superb opportunity to get as close as possible to the amazing flora and fauna of one of the world's most bio-diverse locations.

The Manatee Amazon Explorer
At 90 foot long and 24 foot wide, the Manatee was specifically built for cruising the Amazon.
On board, things are easy going with little in the way of formalities.
The motorised canoes which travel with the vessel provide unlimited mobility and allow for the exploration of the most remote areas and inaccessible shores.
The Manatee is comfortable with well-maintained cabins and a professional and friendly on board crew.
The Manatee offers great value and is a superb way of getting deeper into the Amazon.
Cabins
The Manatee has three decks and just 14 charming cabins, accommodating up to 30 passengers.
The main deck includes a dining area, the kitchen, the crew’s cabins, and the engine room.
Cabins are configured in a double or twin bed basis and each is equipped with air conditioning, closets, a private bathroom complete with a special shower massage, hot and cold water and 24-hour electricitity.
The upper deck has 10 cabins including crew cabins and the sun deck houses the bridge, 4 cabins, the bar and lounge, and an outdoor dining area.
Day 1: Amazon Cruise
Itinerary: Coca – Napo River
After breakfast, transfer to the airport. This is a short 30-minute flight to the town of Coca.
On arrival, transfer to the dock where you will embark on a motorized canoe and navigate down the river approximately 1 ½ hour to board the Manatee Amazon Explorer Cruise.
Evening walk after sunset where you will discover the forest activity and listen to the incessant sounds of nature.

Day 2: Amazon Cruise
Itinerary: Border with Perú (The heart of Yasuní)
After a delicious breakfast, you will disembark on land for a first daylight close-and-personal tropical rainforest experience.
After lunch, the Manatee will navigate to one of the most pristine and little explored sections of Ecuadorian Amazonia, home to the legendary pink river dolphin, black caiman and anaconda.
You may also find river turtles and various species of monkeys, as well as the primitive Hoatzin, a one-of-a-kind bird locally known as "the Stinky Turkey".
The only way to actually visit this flooded ecosystem is by canoe, a ride that will reveal the beauty of a lush jungle world.

Day 3: Amazon Cruise
Itinerary: Meeting the community, activities on board & island exploration.
After breakfast, visit a school located on the banks of the Napo River.
You will have the opportunity to interact with children and learn about the educational system of a remote jungle community in Ecuador.
Return on board the Manatee for lunch and a moment to relax while you navigate upstream.
In the afternoon, explore one of the largest river islands of the Napo River.

Day 4: Amazon Cruise
Itinerary: Observation tower – Limoncocha Biological Reserve
After breakfast, visit an observation tower 100-feet high, built against a giant kapok tree.
Observe a unique perspective of the forest, looming over the treetops and the greatness of the Amazon Basin.
In the afternoon, visit the Limoncocha Biological Reserve, a fascinating protected area home to more than 400 bird species and several monkey species.
You will also have the chance to spot black caimans with the help of our flashlights.
Return to the Manatee for dinner.

Day 5: End of cruise & transfer to Quito
In the morning, disembark the Manatee and transfer by motorized canoe to Coca (1 ½ hour ride), the, a 30-minute flight to Quito.
On arrival at the airport you will be met and transferred to your selected hotel.
