XVA Art Hotel is one of two boutique hotels in Dubai located in the Bastakia quarter of Old Dubai, now renamed as Al Fahidi.
Tucked away amongst the narrow maze-like lanes of historic Old Dubia, XVA Art Hotel is a world away from the showy beach resorts of Dubai.
Boutique hotels don’t come much smaller; with just 9 rooms XVA Art Hotel is small, unpretentious and very welcoming with more than a touch of the bohemian – this is after all a hotel connected to an art gallery.
Rooms are set in low-rise traditional buildings set around a small central courtyard.
The hotel is simple but with a quirky character and in a perfect location for exploring old Dubai and the Souks.
The location means that the creek and Dubai Museum are both just a short stroll away.
The setting also means that the hotel is super quiet, as this part of old Dubai is pedestrianized.
What’s so Special?
In a destination where everything is bigger, newer, shinier, louder – the XVA Art Hotel is a ‘bling-buster’ - the perfect antidote for those looking for something a bit more down to earth, somewhere with a bit of soul.
We think it’s a great experience to stay in one of the old traditional majilis style buildings of Old Dubai, most of which are over a hundred years old. XVA has two traditional courtyards with traditional motifs and three wind-towers.
XVA Art Hotel is attached to a small Art Gallery, which has hosted exhibitions by well-known regional artists such as Moussa Tiba and Faisal Samra.
Bear in mind
This is a simple, unpretentious boutique hotel with few facilities – it’s not a luxury Moroccan Riad in Dubai, so don’t expect opulence, but the service is very professional and welcoming and the hotel is professionally managed.
Rooms don’t have TV’s. Also note that some of the rooms are a little bit quirky in the décor.

XVA Art Hotel has 9 charming rooms spread between the two courtyards and an upper floor.
None of the rooms is alike and each one has been designed by a local artists and designer.
Rooms are all air conditioned with en-suite bathrooms and outdoor seating areas.
Handmade toiletries are nice touches.
There are 2 Single Rooms, 3 Standard Doubles and 4 Deluxe Double rooms.

Dining
The XVA has a great little award-winning vegetarian restaurant, which also serves as a café. There’s a nice view from the second floor.
