This Botswana safari holiday covers three magnificent wildlife areas in Botswana with the addition of a stay on the Zambian side of Victoria Falls.

Begin the trip with 3 nights in Livingstone, visiting the magnificent Victoria Falls and staying in a luxury lodge by the Zambezi River.

Transfer from Livingstone to begin the Botswana safari in Chobe National Park, staying at the intimate Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero, overlooking the Chobe River. Boat safaris on the Chobe River and Game Drives are highlights here.

From Chobe, take a scenic flight to the Okavango Delta, one of the last true wilderness areas in Southern Africa for a 2-night stay at the boutique and stylish Sanctuary Baines’ Camp.

A stay at Sanctuary Baines’ Camp offers the unique opportunity to go walking with a trio of semi-habituated elephants as well as to enjoy a scenic flight over the Delta.

From Sanctuary Baines’ Camp, head on to the Moremi Game Reserve for 2 nights in the intensive game viewing area of the Mombo Concession, staying at the beautiful Sanctuary Chief’s Camp.

The Mombo concession offers mokoro trips, which are included in addition to morning and afternoon game drives and a superb way to get closer to nature in Botswana.

Sanctuary Chief's Camp

Sanctuary Chief’s Camp is a luxury bush camp, skillfully integrated into the landscape on Chief’s Island, one of the Okavango Delta’s richest game areas, in the exclusive Mombo Concession of Botswana’s Moremi Game Reserve.

The setting amongst a beautiful grove of jackalberry, sausage and rain trees means that Chief’s Camp is generally shaded from the daytime heat of the Okavango.

Sanctuary Chief’s Camp offers just twelve secluded, permanent, luxury bush pavilions, designed for privacy and luxury.

Each pavilion has stylish furniture, en-suite bathrooms with both inside and outside showers and large private decks, ideal for watching the passing game.

Sanctuary Chief’s Camp offers game drives in open 4x4 vehicles as well as mokoro excursions along narrow Delta channels during the flood season.

What’s so Special?

At Sanctuary Chief’s Camp guests can enjoy game viewing without even leaving camp.

The top deck of the main area offers extensive views of the floodplain to the north, and the area in front of the camp is illuminated at night.

Sanctuary Chief’s Camp without doubt offers one of the most exclusive safari experiences in Southern Africa. In this ‘predator capital of Africa’, wild dog, cheetah, lion and leopard abound and this is also the only place in Botswana where visitors can see white rhino in their natural environment.

Sanctuary Chief’s Camp has also been awarded the Conde Nast accolade of best African Safari Lodge.

Sanctuary Baines’ Camp

Baines’ Camp is a new camp in Stanley’s Concession, neighbouring the Moremi Game Reserve. Small, intimate and relaxed, with just five luxurious suites, Baines’ Camp is set amongst shady trees and the waterways of the Okavango Delta.

The main area of Baines’ Camp has a large deck for outdoor dining with beautiful views of the Boro River and the lagoon teeming with life. The swimming pools’ two salas provide much needed shade during the heat of the day.

All suites at Baines’ Camp have spacious and luxurious bedrooms, polished wooden floors and beautiful en-suite bathrooms.

At Baines’ Camp visitors can explore this private concession either by land, mokoro or motorboat and walking safaris are a specialty, with skilled guides who will introduce you to this wild and untamed corner of Africa.

What’s so Special?

The four poster beds are fully mobile, giving guests the choice to either sleep inside or outside on the deck, under the stars.

The Suites walls are constructed from recycled drinks cans, wire mesh and elephant-dung – interesting, but surprisingly attractive and eco-friendly.

The raised deck of the main lodge area is a lovely place to relax during the day, to the sound of hippos snorting in the lagoon below.

Because Baines’ Camp is in a private concession, both day and night game drives are offered.

Walking Safaris are really nice here, with a complex local ecology.

Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma

Sanctuary Sussi & Chuma is a boutique luxury Victoria Falls lodge set on a quiet but dramatic bend of the Zambezi River in the Mosi-Oa-Tunya National Park, 12 km upstream from Victoria Falls.

This luxury lodge is named after Dr. David Livingstone's faithful friends Sussi and Chuma, and is located in one of the most beautiful parts of the Zambezi amidst Jackalberry trees and Phoenix palms, offering superb views and privacy.

Accommodation is in 12 Sussi Tree Houses, connected by wooden walkways. There are also two private two-bedroom Chuma Houses.

The circular shaped Sussi Tree Houses all offer spectacular river views and have floor to ceiling windows and sliding doors offering beautiful river views.

The main area of Sussi Lodge features a spectacular raised bar deck with a staircase leading down to the open air dining area and a large swimming pool set on a small lawn that leads down to the waters edge.

What’s so Special?

The location feels quite remote and quiet but is only 12 km from Vic Falls.

All Sussi Tree Houses have their own private viewing deck offering superb views over the white waters of the Zambezi.

Sussi & Chuma is the only lodge in the area to offer guided walking safaris.

The lodge supports a local project in nearby Nakatindi Village.

Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero

The most luxurious Safari Camp in the Chobe National Park. Luxury retreat with spa and stunning setting.

The luxurious Sanctuary Chobe Chilwero Camp is set on the northern edge of the Chobe National Park in an area of teak forest and offers just 15 free-standing cottages with views over the Chobe River.

Chilwero, means ‘place of high view’ in the local language, and the lodge is located high above the Chobe Riverfront, with superb views acres the river and flood plains.

For a boutique luxury safari camp, Chobe Chilwero has impressive facilities including a split-level pool and fantastic spa. This creates a feel more akin to a luxury escape than a traditional safari camp, but the setting is absolutely wonderful.

Chobe Chilwero offers a great chance to see Chobe’s elephant populations of course, but is also great for spotting hippo and buffalo in the Chobe River. Game drives into Chobe mean a great chance of predator spotting.

The main public area at Chobe Chilwero includes a lounge and dining room, which are linked to outdoor viewing patios.

Spacious rooms feature private gardens and indoor-outdoor showers.

What’s so Special?

Chobe Chilwero has the only fully-fledged spa on the Botswana Safari circuit giving an extra dimension to a stay here. One of the treatment rooms is even set amongst the treetops. Chobe Chilwero is therefore an ideal choice for those looking to combine top rate wildlife viewing with some serious pampering.

Chobe Chilwero has a great reputation for quality dining and a great choice of wines.

The location is absolutely stunning – one of the best in Botswana as well as being one of the most accessible, meaning a stay here can easily be combined with a visit to Vic Falls.
