The Skeleton Coast

The Skeleton Coast is wild and desolate, a place of stark, harsh beauty which manages to sustain an unlikely variety of flora and fauna, from colonies of Cape Fur Seals, Oryx, Ostrich and desert elephants to the ancient welwitscha plant.

The relatively inaccessible Skeleton Coast National Park runs along the northern coastal area of Namibia, from Swakopmund all the way to the Angolan border

A field of crescent shaped dunes stretches along the coast from Torra Bay to the Angolan border. This northern and most remote section of the Park is only accessible by specialist fly-in safari operators.

The whole Park area is a stunning reminder of the power of nature, and it is sobering to visit such a timeless wilderness.

The 'Skeleton Coast' has a reputation for being remote, inhospitable and is steeped in an eerie history.

Many ships have run aground on this coast over time, and these ships 'skeletons' can still be seen lying forlorn and rusting along the beaches.

Unfortunately the desolate nature of the coastline meant that any sailor lucky enough to survive the shipwreck had a very slim chance of survival once on land. The lack of food, water and shelter would have provided scant comfort for any budding Robinson Crusoe.

A stay at one of the Skeleton Coast Camps offers the chance to gaze upon endless star-filled skies - a humbling and inspirational experience.

One of the best ways to experience this remote land is on a Skeleton Coast Flying Safari.

Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp

Opened in 2014, Hoanib Skeleton Coast Camp is located on the Hoanib River in the northern part of the private Palmwag Concession.

Its location straddles the Palmwag area and the iconic Skeleton Coast National Park, in one of the most remote areas of the Kaokoveld.

Exclusivity is taken a step further as the camp has only seven twin-bedded tents and one family unit.

The camp looks out over stunning, starkly beautiful scenery and offers guests all the luxuries and amenities for an unforgettable stay in this remote part of Namibia.

Olive Exclusive - Windhoek

This intimate boutique hotel set in a small olive grove in a tranquil corner of Windhoek embodies the very essence of chic comfort.

The Olive Exclusive – the first ultra-luxurious sanctuary of its kind in the Namibian capital – is cool, contemporary and stylish but with a warm heart and authentic African soul.

Its sleek, modern lines are complemented by organic textures, natural furnishings, an eco-friendly approach and dedicated personal service.

Simple elegance is key at Olive Exclusive, from the organic rough-hewn wooden benches and side tables, through the sculpted chunk of granite that serves as a coffee table in the guest lounge, to walls clad in abstract Namibian landscapes by well-known South African designer and photographer Micky Hoyle.

Travel & Leisure Magazine in the U.S voted the Olive Exclusive as one of the best new hotels in the world.

Serra Cafema Camp

Namibia wilderness experience in this luxury tented camp in the Caprivi Strip.

Serra Cafema is located in the extreme north west of Namibia hidden within the enormous Hartman Valley, overlooking the Kuene River.

Serra Cafema is one of the most remote and surreal destinations in Africa and a visit here make for a truly wonderful wilderness experience.

This exclusive, luxurious and peaceful camp offers Meru-style tents with en-suite bathrooms.

Serra Cafema has 8 raised tents with large private decks. The main area of the camp also has a swimming pool, dining room and bar.

There are many activities on offer at Serra Cafema Camp, including the opportunity to meet with the local Himba families who live nearby.
