Angkhang Nature Resort is an ideal base for a two night exploration of this beautiful mountain region of northern Thailand.

From Chiang Mai head to the mountains. Visit the Chiang Dao Elephant Camp and enjoy elephant trekking to a Lisu hilltribe Village.

The next day visit hilltribe villages on the border between Thailand and Burma. Enjoy the views into neighbouring Burma and experience the jungle.

Optional trekking and cycling trips are available on the morning of the third day before transferring back to Chiang Mai.

Day 1: Chiang Mai – Chiang Dao – Doi Angkhang

Pick up from your Chiang Mai hotel around 8 am and travel north for 60 km to the Chiang Dao Elephant Camp and follow an exhilarating elephant trek through the jungle to a remote Lisu Hill Tribe Village.

The Lisu Hill Tribe people originated in Tibet and their villages are usually located in the mountains around 1,000 meters. After lunch at a local restaurant, continue for two hours by vehicle uphill to Doi Angkhang to visit the Royal Angkhang Agricultural Station Project.

Check in at Angkhang Nature Resort with dinner at the resort.

Day 2: Doi Angkhang

After breakfast, drive to visit a Muser Hilltribe at Khob Dong. Khob Dong village has a spectacular viewpoint and a walkway to the top of the hill, which is covered in mist every morning.

About 4 km from Khob Dong, is Nor Lae Village on the Thai- Burma Border, home to the Pa-Hrong Hill Tribe. The people are of Burmese descent and have their own unique language and culture. There is also a spectacular view over the border and into Burma from the peak.

Proceed to the trekking point for a short walk uphill amidst beautiful mountain scenery.

In the afternoon, trek to Baan Khum and experience a mule ride into the jungle. Baan Khum is close to the entrance of the Royal Angkhang Agricultural Station Project. This small community is made up of people of various lineages, Thai, Burmese and Chinese.

Day 3: Doi Angkhang – Chiang Mai

After breakfast enjoy the morning at leisure. For those who enjoy trekking or cycling, optional trips are available to discover the scenic Doi Angkhang mountainous region.

Between November and March striking red rhododendrons bloom in profusion.

Leave the resort after lunch for the 3-hour drive back to Chiang Mai, arriving around 4pm and transferring to your hotel.
