April is a transition month between monsoon systems. On the West Coast of Peninsula Malaysia, humidity levels are rising as the Southwest monsoon begins to creep northwards.
This is still a popular time to visit the West Coast islands of Langkawi, Penang and Pangkor. In Kuala Lumpur and Malacca the rainfall is a little higher than the more northerly islands.
On the East Coast likewise, April usually sees dry weather and long hours of sunshine and clear skies.
The beach resorts on the East Coast of Malaysia can get booked up well in advance at this time of year, especially during Easter.
April is a great time to visit Borneo, as rainfall is usually low on the coast of Sabah, making this a good time for beach holidays in Borneo and for diving on the offshore islands such as Lankayan.
In Sarawak, drier weather continues to become more common as April progresses.
