Namibia April

By April, temperatures in Namibia are sliding to more comfortable levels in the mid-20’s during the day although there can still be very high temperatures in the desert during the day time and big variations between day and night time temperatures. The desert can feel extremely cold in Namibia during the winter months.

April marks the beginning of the dry winter season in Namibia when temperature and rainfall are both at their lowest.

April marks the beginning of the busy season for travel to Namibia with days usually marked by bright, clear skies and comfortable temperatures.

Game viewing in Namibia is at it’s best during the winter months as game is increasingly attracted to waterholes, springs and river as more regular water supplies in the bush begin to dry up. Vegetation is also sparser in the summer, allowing for easier game viewing.

Between April and June, vegetation is still usually quite green and the air not as dusty as in later, drier months.

Self-drives in Namibia during the winter months are very popular as most of the roads in the country are free from flooding.

Namibia’s coastal regions see a climatic pattern similar to the rest of the country but with greater influence from land and sea air currents. A particular feature of this are vast fog banks which can spread tens of kilometres inland.
