Cambodia has very few good beach holiday options, let alone luxury beach resorts, but the opening of Song Saa Private Island Resort opened a new chapter in Cambodia's tourism industry.
Cambodia’s first luxury private island resort features just 27 luxury villas, all built with sustainable materials to blend in with the unspoilt natural setting on two pristine white sand fringed islands just 30 minutes by speedboat from the Cambodian town of Sihanoukville.
With direct flights from Siem Reap to Sihanoukville on the coast, the islands of southern Cambodia are now much more accessible and easily combined with a visit to Angkor Wat.
Song Saa Private Island Resort consists of two interconnected islands lying side-by-side in Cambodia’s untouched Koh Rong island group. Song Saa is set on a small island. Although the resort organises some great activities an excursions, an extended stay is only for those looking for a real away from it all holiday escape.
Song Saa means ‘Sweetheart’ in Khmer – just a bit of trivia.
Jungle Villas
There are 9 One Bedroom Jungle Villas, perched amongst the rainforest looking out over the open ocean with the choice of sunrise or sunset views.
Villas have polished wooden floors and oversized four-poster beds draped with mosquito netting and dressed with Ploh Linen. Villas have outdoor sitting areas with luxurious daybeds.
Bathrooms have double vanities, huge stand-alone bathtubs and open-air Rainforest showers.
The décor is a mix of slick modern design with rustic touches and bespoke hand made furniture, with a use wherever possible of recycled materials such as driftwood.
Jungle villas were built around the existing trees and some villas have trees incorporated into the decking.

On stilts above the water, this is Song Saa’s dining venue for al-fresco dining and cocktails.
Driftwood Bar Sundowners
Driftwood Bar is open throughout the day for a beer or a light lunch from the Raw menu. Picture emerging from the water after a dive on a private reef to find cold beers or the perfect glass of chilled wine awaiting.
Cocktails flow each evening to coincide with the spectacular sunset. Sit and chat to the chefs as they prepare wonderful tapas and snacks from the wood-fired oven and BBQ. Reserve a spot here for a Private Beach Dinner later in the evening.

Long Tail Boat Champagne Cruise

This bar sits in one of the most unique private spots on the beautiful Koh Ouen.

This is the perfect spot to watch the sun setting and the moon rising over the sea.

After a wonderful sunset at the Champagne Bar, stroll along the beach to the Driftwood Bar.

Koh Rong beach picnic

Guided snorkelling around Coral Reef Island
