Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda is the place to go in Rwanda for Mountain Gorilla tracking, Rwanda’s number one attraction.
The Virunga Mountains range across this area of Central Africa, from Uganda, through Rwanda and into the DRC. This is the main remaining habitat for mountain gorillas in Africa.
With only around 800 Mountain Gorillas remaining in the world, Volcanoes National Park, along with the Bwindi impenetrable forest in Uganda is the best place in the world to track Mountain Gorillas.
Only three groups of 8 people are permitted to view gorillas in Rwanda each day, so permits are restricted, but the experience is incomparable and Gorilla Tracking in Rwanda is certainly one of the world’s great wildlife experiences.
