Hotel Cote Cour
Hotel Cote Cour is a boutique courtyard-style hotel in Beijing, combining traditional Chinese "Sihe yuan" ambiance with modern comfort and amenities.
The location in the protected Hutong district means that city sights such as Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City are within easy walking distance.
The hotel is actually on historic Yanyue Hutong (small lane) which means "Music & Drama" - home to dancers, musicians and opera singers of the imperial court in Ming Dynasty times.
The staff speak good English here and there is a great lounge area for meeting fellow travellers and sharing experiences.
Rooms are set in a courtyard around a goldfish filled pond.
What's so Special?
The decor and atmosphere is classical, sophisticated, relaxed and personal and the hotel owner is usually at hand to ensure standards remain high.
The staff have a great reputation for friendliness and service and coming back to the hotel after a day out feels like being welcomed back home – which is how it should feel.
For those looking for a traditional and comfortable boutique hotel which is a stylish mix of modern chic and historic, this is a great choice.
Rooms
There are just 14 rooms at the Cote Cour. There is a choice of Standard, Deluxe and Deluxe Superior Rooms plus two types of Suite.
The Deluxe Superior Room (room 203) is especially good, with high ceilings and views over the street.
Rooms are generally on the small side but prettily decorated with paper lampshades and beautiful porcelain wash basins.
