See the best of the Silk Road city on this Full day trip in Xian visiting the famous Terracotta Warriors, the city Walls, a Chinese mosque and a Night Market where dinner is included.
Visit the Terracotta Warriors in the morning. Qin Shi Huangdi built a mausoleum to have his immense army of infantrymen, archers, and cavalry riders to protect him in the afterlife.
The statues are separated in three pits. Begin with the second pit, which is still being excavated, then proceed to the third, which houses the greatest number of actual items. Finally visit the first pit, the most impressive one with about 2000 warriors.
Additionally there is a small museum on site that houses two splendid bronze chariots found in 1980 west of the mausoleum. You can now see them on display along with other artifacts.
Afterwards, head back to Xian and take a bike tour (or for an additional charge a cart tour) for about one hour to discover the city. See impressive ramparts built during the Ming Dynasty. Today, they stand restored and reconstructed.
Xian is a city of many cultures. During the day of the Silk Road, Muslim merchants from Central Asia came to China to do business and left their influence in Xian. Several Muslim minorities now live in China, and the Hui minority are predominant in Xian.
Visit the Chinese-style Mosque and the vibrant neighbourhood around it housing a number of shops. See locals wearing traditional headgear such as white skull-caps for men and colourful headscarves for the women.
At dinner, appreciate the unique ambiance of a night market and dine on the neighbourhood’s specialties of spiced lamb kebabs, flat bread and mutton soup with noodles.
