Guatemala enjoys of a pleasant climate all year round with warm days and mild evenings.
One thing to take into account when travelling to Guatemala is the altitude which will directly influence on the weather.
Areas between 1300 and 1600m including Antigua, Cobán and Lake Atitlán feature warm days and mild nights whereas those areas above 1600m have cooler days with chilly nights. Weather in Petén, however, is sticky and steamy and so are the Pacific and Caribbean coasts.
Guatemala’s dry season runs from November to April and the rainy season from May to October (with heavy rainy periods from September to October) though it usually rains in late afternoon.
High season in Guatemala takes place between December and March and again in July and August. We strongly recommend to book your holidays in advance during these periods.
