AfroChic Diani

AfroChic Diani is the perfect place for a flop and drop luxury beach holiday in Kenya or as an add-on to a Kenya safari.

Situated on Kenya’s idyllic Diani Beach, AfroChic is one of the most intimate boutique resorts in Kenya, with just 10 rooms, each with its own private balcony and sun loungers.

Rooms are all uniquely furnished, with eclectic décor and lots of attention to detail creating a warm ambience to the rooms.

We think it’s a very good choice for couples looking for a romantic escape or a luxury honeymoon hotel on Kenya’s beautiful Indian Ocean coast.

There are plenty of activities on offer including watersports, snorkelling, diving and golf (just a walk away).

The food gets very good reviews at AfroChic and you can dine whenever you want during the day and evening.

What’s so Special?

AfroChic is part of the Elewana Collection, a collection of luxury safari camps and boutique hotels in Kenya and Tanzania.

The location of AfroChic on Diani Beach is perfect for beach lovers but there’s also plenty nearby too including an 18-hole Championship Golf Course, local boutiques, spas and craft markets.

Day trips to Shimba Hills Reserve and Mwaluganje Elephant Sanctuary add to the Kenyan coastal experience.

Bear in Mind

Belying the name, the hotel isn't especially 'chic' or all that 'Afro' but we think it's perfect for couples looking for a quiet and intimate boutique hotel on Diani Beach.

Garden View Rooms

Garden View Rooms are cosy and the most basic of AfroChic's rooms.

Ocean View Rooms

An upgrade to an Ocean View offers a higher standard of accommodation alongside the ocean views.

Junior Suites

Junior Suites offer more space and a writing desk

Executive Suites

Executive Suites have four-poster beds and ethnic decor.

Which Airlines do you use for your Kenya Holidays?

We work with all the major airlines flying to the Kenya.

Typically for Kenya we will use Kenya Airways or British Airways for direct flights.

There are currently daily flights from Heathrow to Nairobi, departing in the morning and arriving the same day late in the evening.

The Kenya Airways flights are also direct but offer an overnight option meaning you'll arrive in the morning in time to connect with a safari flight.

The flying time for direct flights is about 8.5 hours.

We also commonly use Emirates via Dubai, Qatar Airways via Doha and Etihad via Abu Dhabi. These all allow stopover options in the Arabian Gulf to create a multi-centre holiday.

Regional connections from across the UK are available.

What about Safari Flights in Kenya?

Safari flights in Kenya operate from Nairobi Wilson Airport.

We usually use Safari Airlink who are Kenya's premier safari flight operator, flying to most safari destinations as well as Zanzibar, using Dash 8 and Cessna Caravan aircraft.

The Cessna's are the workhorses of safari flights and have large windows and overhead wings, meaning better views on your flight.

Luggage should be kept to a minimum on safari flights.

For safari flights in Kenya, the limit is typically 15 kg per person. This should be in soft bags as opposed to hard suit cases in order to fit in the baggage compartment on small aircraft.

Do I need a visa for Kenya?

If you're travelling on British Passports, a visa is required for stays of up to a month.

These can be obtained on arrival but to avoid queuing at the airport on arrival it's better to organise these in advance.

Please always check visa requirements as they can change at any time.

When is the best time to visit Kenya?

January to March is usually hot and dry and great for wildlife viewing. Conditions can often be dry and dusty at this time of year and animals often congregate near water-holes, meaning excellent wildlife viewing.

April to May can be wet and muddy and this is the period of the 'long rains'. Many safari camps close during May when the long rains are at their height, as the tracks and roads get muddy and it may not be possible for the camp vehicles to take visitors on game drives.

June is usually green and lush after the rain. Many animals have their young at this time of year, to coincide with the better grazing from new grass following the rains.

July to August is cooler and good for the migration in the Masai Mara. July to September is when the great wildebeest migration moves into the Masai Mara. July to September is a busy time for safaris in Kenya.

September to October offers good weather and wildlife viewing in Kenya.

November and December sees the advent of the so-called 'short rains'.

Bear in mind that weather patterns vary and when rainfall in Kenya occurs, it often happens at night or early in the morning.

Ensure you bring some additional warm clothing for chilly early morning or evening game drives in Kenya.

Although Kenya is on the equator, you may be surprised at how cold it can get at night and in the early morning, especially in the higher locations!
