Diphlu River Lodge
Diphlu River Lodge is one of the best lodges in Kaziranga National Park, with a location second to none, right on the border of Kaziranga, with exceptional views of the jungle.
Diphlu River Lodge consists of 8 individual cottages and 4 semi-detached cottages, raised on stilts above the ground.
Made of bamboo and thatch, all accommodation is air-conditioned with plentiful use of local materials and artefacts to blend in with the stunning natural surroundings.
Each room has a seating area with comfortable cane furniture, a writing desk and high quality mattresses.
The very spacious separate cottages have wide folding glass doors opening onto a thatched verandas with cane day-beds and inviting chairs overlooking the Diphlu River and National Park.
The semi-detached cottages all have equally attractive large balconies from which to savour the magical surroundings in the open air.
At the centre of the lodge is Machan (pronounced Ma-chaan), a raised dining and lounge area providing great views across the jungle.
What’s so Special?
Diphlu River Lodge is run by Assam Bengal Navigation, to the same exacting standards as their well-established river cruises on the Brahmaputra and the Hooghly Rivers.
Daily jeep and elephant safaris are available, and the services of resident trained naturalists are available as this is a great birding location.
Escorted village visits, river walks and walks through tea gardens are also offered.
Cottages
Diphlu River Lodge offers accommodation for 24 guests at any one time, ensuring an exclusive and serene experience.
There are 8 individual cottages and 4 semi-detached cottages.
The raised cottages are made of natural materials like bamboo and wood, topped with thatched roofs to blend in with the forest surroundings.
All cottages sleep 2 and are air-conditioned for comfort.
All shower bathrooms are en-suite with a roomy dressing area and a fitted wardrobe containing a safe.
Special care has been taken to make full use of local materials and artefacts.
Each individual cottage has a wide folding glass door opening onto a verandah with inviting cane chairs.
