Heritage Line Cruises

Heritage Line is one of our preferred Halong Bay Cruise lines and ideal for those looking for high standards and a more personal experience.

They operate 4 ships cruising Halong Bay and each offers a very personal and unique experience.

Halong Ginger has just 12 spacious suites and is currently (2019) cruising the newly opened area of the Bay known as Lan Ha.

Halong Jasmine is larger (23 cabins) but still offers a very intimate, boutique cruise on Halong Bay.

For an even more special Halong Bay cruise, opt for either the Halong Violet or the Ylang, Heritage Line's latest vessel.

The Violet has just 6 suites whilst the Ylang has very spacious luxury suites and a great spa, operating on cruises around Lan Ha Bay.

What's so Special?

The ships are beautiful and Heritage Line run an excellent operation.

We love the size of the cabins and the pool and spa on the Halong Ginger.

Halong Violet is a great option for honeymooners or those looking for a more intimate Halong Bay cruise experience.

Heritage Line offer a selection of traditional Vietnamese-style junks, including the Halong Jasmine, Halong Ginger and Halong Violet.

Halong Ginger

Halong Ginger is the original of Heritage Line's three Halong Bay Cruise vessels - known as the 'Three Sisters'.

Built to resemble a traditional wooden junk, the elegant and serene Halong Ginger features wood-paneled lounges, shimmering silks and Indochine-style furnishings.

The terrace deck is a marvelous public area. An almost 360-degree light-flooded restaurant offering live cooking is framed by an outdoor alfresco area. An indoor bar corner invites relaxation before or after dinner.

The most exclusive facility is Ginger’s pool on the terrace deck. Surrounded by comfortable shaded sunbeds, the views from the pool are spectacular.

So are the views from the spa rooms in the stern of the ship – one VIP spa room comes with steam bath.

Combine relaxing spa treatments with dramatic outlooks through floor to ceiling glass windows on the bay.

Simple yet elegant, the suites on Halong Ginger feature large windows – perfect for viewing the Bay’s ever-changing scenery.

There are just 12 of them, making this a genuine boutique cruise experience. All suites are spacious, well-lit and feature private balconies.

Halong Ginger is currently (2019) crusing the newly opened area of Halong Bay known as Lan Ha Bay.

Halong Jasmine

With 23 cabins, Halong Jasmine has twice the number of cabins as the Ginger but is built in the same style of a traditional Vietnamese junk, with three tawny sails and dark wood-cladding.

It's sturdy and strong – with a decidedly languid air and an understated elegance.

Jasmine’s interiors, like the exterior, are covered in polished wood, lending Jasmine the stately air of an Indochina-era cruising boat.

There is a formal dining room, a wide Sundeck, kayaks and spa facilities.

12 Superior Cabins (16 sq. m) are set on the main deck with teak-wood furniture, panoramic French-styled windows and tastefully chosen décor.

The 9 Deluxe Cabins (18 sq. m) sit on the upper deck of the junk. The décor is classy – with marvelous wooden finishing and paintings.

The 2 Jasmine Junior Suites (24 sq. m), located on the main deck, are regally furnished and feature Jacuzzis and private balconies.

Halong Violet

She can be pompous at times but her coquettish appearance will melt any heart.

The younger sister is the Halong Violet. Small and exquisite, the Violet has just 6 cabins and offers a truly boutique Halong Bay cruise.

Halong Violet has all the amenities of larger vessels however, including a gym and sauna, a spa with unrivalled views, a restaurant and a lounge, and a rooftop Sundeck.

Cabins with floor to ceiling windows are the real highlight however.

For an intimate experience of Halong Bay, there is nothing to compare to the lovely Violet, one of the most beautiful vessels cruising Halong Bay.

Violet is named after the beautiful Violet Chirita, a delicate purple-flowered plant that grows nowhere else but on the rocky slopes of Halong Bay. Like her namesake, Violet is small and exquisite.

The Violet has two special Junior Suites Cabins (Water and Mountain) – the elements of Halong Bay.

The Water Junior Suite has a king bed and a soft white ocean-like ambiance surrounds the room.

The Mountain comes with twin beds and carries a more yellowish tone. Both are located on the main deck with 36 sq. m floor space and large private balconies. Bathroom are made of Italian marble with walk-in showers and a Jacuzzi.

The Violet Imperial Suites (38 sq. m) read like a romantic fairytale. The four are called Dragon, Phoenix, Moon and Cloud.

As with the Junior Suites all four are appointed with its singularly designed 1930 Indochine décor.

Large windows offer a full view to the Bay. While the Phoenix and Dragon come more in reddish hue with golden or silver deco elements and fabrics, the Cloud and the Moon have a rather dreamy-white or wistful sky-blue outfit.

All of them pay meticulous attention to detail: plush king solid wood beds, exotic dark furniture, charming fabrics and decorative walls and ceilings paintings.

The Imperial Suites sit on the upper deck and all have private balconies.

Ylang

Ylang is the latest member of Heritage Line’s collection and features a splendid blend of Asian-Vietnamese design with French-Colonial accents.

Local artisans contributed to Ylang’s decoration with hand-crafted paintings and artwork using various materials and techniques.

Each suite is dedicated to a particular blossom which typically represents a season in Vietnam.

Ylang has just 10 spacious suites on two decks – each flooded with natural light pouring in through floor-to-ceiling panoramic doors which open onto a private balcony.

What makes Ylang unique is her expansive spa with its extensive selection of thoughtfully selected treatments.

The focus on wellness lives on in the more dynamic activities such as yoga in a dedicated room or early morning Tai Chi lessons on the upper deck.

The main deck’s six spacious Signature Suites (40 sq. m) each has a private balcony equipped with a table and sun chairs.

Suites have separate lounge area and beds which face the large sliding glass door, which opens onto the balcony and endless views of the sea.

All Signature Suites’ bathrooms are fitted with a walk-in shower and a bathtub overlooking the bay.

The elegant Italian marble tiles and splendid mosaics on the walls pick up the decorative style of the suite’s living quarters.
