Hoodia Desert Lodge is a superb boutique Sossusvlei camp offering very comfortable accommodation and a highly personalized experience.
There are just 11 luxury, thatched chalets at Hoodia Desert Lodge, each set overlooking the dry river bed and spaced far enough apart to maintain a good degree of privacy.
The main area of the lodge is very stylishly designed and is a great place to relax and enjoy meals.
There is a pool, a lounge deck and a restaurant with beautiful open fireplace at the centre.
The lodge is about 15 minutes by car from the main Sossusvlei gate, so the location is very good.
What’s so Special?
Thomas and Henreza are the owner-managers and run the lodge with a rare degree of enthusiasm and personal care and attention, which shows through in every aspect. They are the perfect hosts and make Hoodia stand out from its competitors.
The day tours run from Hoodia (which we normally include) are really excellent and a little bit different to the standard Sossusvlei excursions.
Guests are taken out for most of the day and quieter routes and more off the beaten track areas are encompassed. A highlight is an exclusive dune lunch with fine wines, delicious food and ice cold drinks.
Sundowners on the nearby dune lookout are also great – guests are driven out to the dune with the drinks set-up and picked up later, meaning peace and space to enjoy the magnificent landscape at the best time of the day.
