Marlin Lodge overlooks wide, tranquil Flamingo Bay on Benguerra Island and offers a friendly and relaxed atmosphere with a touch of luxury.
Built on elevated wooden stilts to protect the plant-life, Marlin Lodge has just 21 chalets situated along a white sandy beach, connected to the main area by raised wooden walkways.
Each very spacious thatch-roofed chalet at Marlin Lodge has a small veranda and a sandy path or boardwalk leading straight onto the beach.
What’s so Special?
The location is really scenic at Marlin Lodge and Flamingo Bay has one of the best beaches on Bazaruto Island.
Bear in mind
As with much of Mozambique’s Bazaruto Archipelago, the sea is very tidal here. When the sea is out, many different types of wading birds can be spotted in the shallows.
The flight to Vilanculos from Johannesburg is just under 2 hours and then involves a 25-30 minute boat transfer to the resort.

There are 14 Luxury Beach Suites, and 3 Superior Beach Suites.
Luxury Beach Suites
The open-plan air-con Luxury Beach Suites (60 sq. m) feature a veranda with hammock, a lounge and huge bathrooms with twin vanities and a large shower.
The Suites are very large and feature high thatch-roofs and black slate floors.
An added bonus is an outdoor courtyard shower.
Superior Beach Suites
The Superior Beach Suites (80 sq. m)are even larger than the Luxury Beach Suites (60 sq. m).
Ceilings are higher, there is a second veranda (30 sq. m) with deckchairs and hammock, and the décor is a little different to the Luxury Beach Suites.
Superior Beach Suites all have King-size four-poster beds with mosquito nets and also feature an additional open-air shower.

Snorkelling & Diving
The Bazaruto Archipelago's Reefs over superb snorkelling and diving locations. Marlin Lodge has a PADI Dive Centre offering excursions to several dive and snorkelling locations.
Dhow Excursions
Trips around nearby islands by dhow are very popular and also help support the local population with the hiring of both boat and crew.
Island Drive
Round Island tours are offered in a 9-seater land cruiser. The Island is 11 by 5.5 km in size and has some interesting natural features and is also a great spot for birding, with over 78 different species present.
Picnics
Island picnics are popular, with a choice of settings including sand-bars and nearby islands. Choose between a table and umbrella or blanket and pillows.

Horse Riding is available in conjunction with the neighbouring lodge to a number of locations around the island.
