Southern Mozambique has a beautiful coastline and is the most accessible of Mozambique's beach destinations.

Mozambique's capital, Maputo is easily reached from South Africa’s Kruger National Park in around three hours by road, and is the main gateway to southern Mozambique.

There are some beach resorts in Maputo Bay such as the excellent Machangulo Beach Lodge, which is reached by boat from the city.

Further south, White Pearl is a great choice for a luxury beach holiday in Mozambique.

Maputo itself is known as the city of Acacias and has several noteworthy buildings from the Portuguese period. The adventurous will be well rewarded with an overnight stay.
