Since the times of the British Raj, the Oberoi Cecil has been the most exclusive hotel in Shimla,

Located at the quieter end of the bustling Mall Road in Shimla, near the Viceroy Lodge, The Oberoi Cecil has a white facade and smart, green terrace railings.

Inside, the comfortable lounge is a highlight, lit from above by a skylight that spans the length and breadth of the hotel's signature atrium.

Rooms and suites offer fantastic views across the terraced gardens, towering cedar trees or the Shimla valley.

Each room is furnished with a king-size bed, panelled with Burmese teak floorboards, and features quaint colonial style touches such as an ottoman and a leather topped bureau desk.

The restaurant at the Cecil consists of a restored grand ballroom, serving a wide range of fine international, pan-Indian and local Himachali dishes.

Nestled in the mountainside, The Oberoi Spa in Shimla offers a wide range of Eastern, Western and signature Oberoi treatments, accompanied by fantastic views.

What's so Special?

Once known for its fabulous ballroom dances and fashionable clientele, 130 years later, the Oberoi Cecil was restored to its former glory and reborn as a luxury heritage hotel in Shimla retaining much of its colonial charm.

A stay at the Oberoi Cecil is great in combination with a journey on the Toy Train to Shimla.

Deluxe Rooms

Located at the front of the hotel, Deluxe Rooms have views onto the cedar garden and some have access to a private terrace, whose smart, green railings compliment the crisp, white facade of the hotel.

Guests may stand here and picture Shimla in colonial times, when fashionable ladies would have stood here being admired from the Mall Road.

Features such as the polished wooden floor boards and charming brass railed luggage space lend a subtle colonial charm to this room.

Guests may take a seat at the teak writing bureau or relax in an armchair beside the antique style, mother-of-pearl inlaid coffee table and enjoy the authentic ambience.

Deluxe Rooms are equipped with conveniences of the highest standard. Located in the walk-in wardrobe is an electronic safe, atop the teak mini bar is a 32" LCD television and a DVD player. There is an extensive library of English language films available to watch.

Luxury Rooms

The windows of the Luxury Rooms are filled with views of lofty cedar trees, standing tall as sentries across Shimla.

Nestle into the comfort of an armchair, enjoy 24-hour dining and look out over the calm and serenity that pervade this romantic valley.

Colonial cavalry and flag designs pervade the furnishings of this room.

Smart armchairs and curtains are upholstered in classically striped fabric, polished teak floor panels mimic regimental lines and pictures of British cavalrymen and their flags are captured in frames on the walls.

Each Luxury Room features a walk-in wardrobe with a separate brass railed luggage compartment, an electronic safe, a direct dial telephone, a 32" LCD television and a DVD/CD player.

In the bathroom there is a shower and bathtub.
