Zhiwa Ling Heritage hotel in Bhutan is a characterful hotel set in the Paro Valley, amongst 10-acres of land on the way to the Tiger’s Nest Monastery, one of the main sights in Bhutan.

This boutique hotel in Bhutan pays tribute to the ornate architectural arts of Bhutan and is one of the best places to stay in Bhutan.

Zhiwa Ling Heritage’s main building is built in the tradition of a Bhutanese Dzong (Fortress) with intricate carvings, paintings and antique Bhutanese textiles.

The Juniper Suites in the main building are the largest standard rooms in Bhutan (49 sq. m). Located on the second floor within easy reach of the in-house temple, each suite features a Californian king size bed.

Enjoy splendid views of Paro Valley and surrounding mountains from the Magnolia and Drugyel Suites (also 49 sq. m), spread across eight cottages linked to the main building by a pathway. All suites have bathtubs, underfloor heating and a sitting area with leather sofas and a private balcony.

The Blue Poppy and Takin Suites are three times the size and feature a separate living room.

Zhiwa Ling has a Restaurant, Bar, On-site Temple and a Spa.

What’s so Special?

Every part of the hotel is handmade, from the massive hand-carved wooden beams to the colourful, hand-painted ceilings and walls.

Over sixty local artisans were employed to lovingly handcraft its exterior and interior design, envisioned by architect Peter Kampf.

To this day, Zhiwa Ling Heritage is wholly Bhutanese owned and staffed.

One of the most interesting features of Zhiwa Ling Heritage is the on-site temple. This is a great way to really experience at first hand some of the religious traditions of Bhutan.
