Located on the North West of the Island, sandwiched between steep cliffs, Jamestown is the historic capital of the British Overseas Territory of St. Helena, Ascension and Tristan da Cunha.
Jamestown was founded by settlers from the East India Company in 1659 and many of the buildings still date from the 1700's, giving Jamestown a distintly Georgian flavour.
Jamestown played host to Napoleon during his exile on St. Helena and also served as a Royal Naval base.
