This Borneo journey is a combination of a short stop near Kota Kinabalu, a few days of wildlife-focused exploration in Borneo, followed by a week or so exploring the coast from Kota Kinabalu to the Tip of Borneo.

You'll begin with 2 nights in Kota Kinabalu where you can ease into your trip. We've included a trip to the cultural village and a tour of Kota Kinabalu.

From Kota Kinabalu you'll fly the short hop up to Sandakan and visit the Orangutan Rehabilitation Centre and Sun Bear Sanctuary.

From here you'll head off to the Kinabatangan River for two days of wildlife viewing in this magical part of Borneo.

You'll head out in the mornings and evenings by electric boat in seach of wildlife along the riverbanks. You'll be staying at Sukau Rainforest Lodge, which is the best lodge in the Kinabatangan River area.

From Sukau you'll head to the Tabin Wildlife Reserve for 2 nights exploring the mud volcanoes, waterfalls and great bird watching areas.

The second half of your Borneo adventure will be on the Kota Kinabalu coast.

You'll begin with 3 nights in the the Tunku Abdul Rahman Marine Park, just off the coast of Kota Kinabalu. This sizable Malaysian island has been protected as a reserve since the early 1920's.

Gaya Island Resort is a luxury resort offering some of the best accommodation in Borneo and is the ideal complement to a wildlife tour of Borneo.

From Gaya Island, head up the coast to spend two nights on the remote Mantanani Islands. This is an area of pristine beach and great snorkelling. The accommodation is more basic here but it's a great spot for snorkelling and enjoying a Robinson Crusoe like experience.

Your holiday will culminate with 3 nights at Kudat Riviera, including an introduction to Rungus culture at Bavanggazo Longhouse and visits to local villages.
