El Nido Resorts

El Nido is an area of rugged limestone islands and islets found in the far north of the beautiful island of Palawan.
There are four El Nido Resorts to choose from. El Nido Pangulasian is the most exclusive and expensive, Apulit the most basic.
There are a few things to bear in mind when considering a holiday to El Nido. Firstly, it takes a bit of getting to. Flights often don't connect, meaning there is sometimes an enforced overnight in Manila. Flights to El Nido depart from the domestic terminal at the airport in Manila, which means leaving the airport and taking a transfer which can sometimes be a lengthy one.
Rooms at Apulit, Miniloc and Lagen are not what we'd call luxurious - the standard rooms in particular can be quite small - especially the bathrooms. Pangulasion is an exception - the rooms there are definitely luxury.
There is no shortage of activities on offer at all the El Nido Resorts and when I arrived, the first thing the staff want to do is introduce you to the activity centre. "Shall we do Abseiling at 6 am then Kayaking around the island right afterwards and a snorkelling trip in the afternoon"? I'm a bit of an early bird - I did everything - they were all brilliant.
The food in the Philippines is quite hit and miss. It's not Thailand and meals can be a bit bland and repetative - it's not a gourmet destination.
So, difficult to get to, average food, small rooms, you might be wondering why we're trying to recommend you going to El Nido.
