Similarly on the East Coast of Malaysia, the Northeast monsoon has normally lost its grip by March and the island resorts on Tioman and the Perhentian Islands are much busier.
Beach holidays and diving trips to the east coast of Malaysia start to become more popular from March through to September.
March is a great time to consider a visit to Borneo as the weather in Sabah is becoming markedly drier. There are far fewer visitors to Borneo at this time of year; meaning availability at Turtle Island, on Mount Kinabalu and in the wildlife lodges is usually wider.
Further west in Sarawak, there is also a decline in rainfall from March, although Sarawak remains prone to rainy days.
