The climate in the Maldives can be largely divided into wet and dry seasons, with periods of unsettled weather during the transitional periods.
The middle of November to the middle of April normally marks the North East "monsoon" period which sees the Maldives blessed with dry and settled conditions, making the Maldives an ideal Winter sun destination.
May and November can see transtitional weather with the change in climatic conditions.
Travel between May and October can see some rainy days, usually in the form of short, sharp afternoon downpours but generally it would be unlucky to be subject to more continuous rainfall. The islands of South Male Atoll can be more badly affected during this season.
Temperatures average in the high twenties to thirty degrees throughout the year with a consistent level of sunshine throughout the year (about 8 hours per day).
Humidity is fairly high (above 75%) year round, although it is higher between May and October, and sea breezes help to temper the humidity between January and March.
