Bunga Raya Island Resort & Spa is a luxury island resort situated by a coral reef off the coast of Borneo, just a short boat ride from Kota Kinabalu.
This secluded Borneo island hideaway consists of just 47 timbered villas, tucked away on a tranquil and hidden bay framed by a crescent shaped white sand beach on one side and the centuries old virgin jungle on the other.

What’s so Special?
Villas are not enclosed but offer a lot of privacy because of the trees. The Villas’ private balconies offer great views of the beach below and the South China Sea beyond.
Bunga Raya Island Resort has a connection to MERC, the Marine Ecology Research Centre, which is doing great work in preserving the marine environment. A trip to the facility is a worthwhile morning’s visit.
Bear in Mind
The timber villas at Bunga Raya Island Resort are in keeping with the island environment and are minimally furnished – some may find the interiors a little sparse.

Superior Villa
Dotting the hillside up towards the centre of the island, these spacious one-bedroom villas (70 sq. m.) present an appealing mix of quiet privacy and views of either lush tropical jungle or the ocean.
Every Superior Villa is built to the same specification, but each offers a different and unique view of the island.
Frette bed linen, BOSE sound-system and a free minibar are nice touches.
Deluxe Villa
Deluxe Villas (108 sq. m.) are significantly larger than the Superior Villas and provide views of both the jungle and the ocean, and are ideal for small families or groups of friends needing a bit more space.
A separate living room extension is equipped with a second entertainment system, and can be used as a second bedroom with the optional addition of a bed.
Plunge Pool Villa
The Private Plunge Pool Villas (87 sq. m.) offer beach and ocean views from the open deck balcony and private plunge pool.
Plunge Pool Villas come complete with deck chairs for lounging and an indulgent bathtub in a spacious bathroom.

There are three restaurants at Bunga Raya offering different and world class dining experiences.
Pantai Grill
Set right on the sand very close to the water's edge, Pantai Grill is a laidback ocean front restaurant. Pantai Grill is available for lunch and is open until sunset.
Couples interested in more private dining arrangements can choose to enjoy their food at one of the several over-water pavilions located nearby, which create a romantic atmosphere that makes for a more intimate affair.
The Wine Cave
The Wine Cave is literally an underground wine cellar that stores over 4,500 bottles. Built right under The Koi, it also houses an impressive collection of cigars, which can be enjoyed at an adjoining outdoor patio.
The Koi
Bunga Raya’s main restaurant, The Koi is a modern European Bistro designed with plenty of contemporary flair, at the resort's heart.
The restaurant takes its name from the dozens of carp that inhabit the pond just behind the restaurant.
The resort's swimming pool is located in front of The Koi. The Koi is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week.
