Chiawa Camp
Chiawa Camp is acknowledged as having one of the best safari operations in Africa and certainly holds a prime position in the heart of Zambia’s Lower Zambezi National Park.
Resting peacefully on the banks of the Zambezi River, it was at this very spot that Dr. David Livingstone ventured through nearly 150 years ago and where the Cuming’s family started the first photo safari operation in the Lower Zambezi National Park.
Located 10 km into the Park Chiawa Camp is superbly located in perhaps the best game viewing area and far enough away from the crowded Game Management Area to its west.
Chiawa Camp is constructed largely with natural materials that effortlessly blend in with the surroundings.
The nine large tents built on raised wooden decks are beautifully decorated with spacious verandas overlooking the water.
A stunning thatched lounge area with an upstairs viewing deck provides one of the best views of the Zambezi.
The food at Chiawa Camp is excellent with chefs preparing large bush breakfasts.
Light lunches and dinners are often served on a sandbank in the middle of the Zambezi River.

Bear in Mind
Chiawa Camp is the sister camp to Old Mondoro and is the larger, more luxurious and slightly more expensive of the two camps.
The terrain is more varied and arguably more interesting than at Old Mondoro, and with regular access to three different lion prides, lion sightings are generally excellent and reliable, with lions often seen in and around camp.
