Hotel Heritage is a luxury hotel in Bhaktapur, a UNESCO world heritage site, 8 miles from Kathmandu.

This boutique hotel blends a traditional Nepali look and feel with modern amenities, just a short 7-minute walk from Bhaktapur’s Durbar Square.

Almost all of the furniture in the hotel is either antique, or built from repurposed wood at least 200 years old. One of the antique window frames inside the hotel was pulled out from a bonfire at Shivaratri.

There are 25 air-con rooms, generously sized and traditionally furnished. Antique wooden bed and mirror frames, curtains and bathrobes made of traditional organic cotton, bamboo rugs, handmade lampshades, all add to the charm.

Full sized bathrooms contain modern fixtures, as well as quaint old pieces like copper soap dishes, and ceramic containers for the luxurious local herbal bath products to pamper you.

On the ground floor, Kutumba Restaurant serves delicious Nepali as well as continental food, and homemade rakshi.

What’s so Special?

History comes alive in this boutique hotel where Malla, Rana, Newari and Mithila influences, as well as Hindu and Buddhist traditions all blend to create a tasteful, cozy and unique hideaway.

Hotel Heritage was constructed using waste from the demolition of old structures, which were refashioned into various uses at the hotel.

The beautiful windows on the front elevation, and some of the antique marble and stone floors in the entrance come from the rubble of a royal palace, and are over 400 years old.

Handmade clay bricks with Newari script dot the hotel's interior, and were also salvaged from a royal residence.

Every piece at the hotel has a story, a history, the handiwork of Nepali artisans, and a flavor of the local community.
