Mume Hotel Kyoto is an enchanting boutique hotel in Kyoto’s Gion district, offering just 7 cosy and unique rooms and a high level of very personalized service.
The location is perfect from which to experience the traditional Geisha district of Kyoto and the hotel sits beside the tranquil Shirakawa River.
The name ‘Mume’ comes from "Prunus mume", the scientific name of "Ume" – the Japanese apricot.
The seven rooms consist of four different types, following a traditional concept, which expresses the beauties of nature in Japan.
Each of the seven en-suite rooms is decorated with beautiful pieces of antique furniture, which the owner has purchased herself from all over the world.
Expect personal service, a fabulous location, fast Wi-Fi and a memorable stay in Kyoto.

All rooms are graced by "karakami" paper from "Karacho Shop", which was founded 400 years ago and now is the only shop producing genuine Kyoto Karakami paper.
Bear in mind
Don’t expect expansive rooms. This is Japan and space is tight – rooms are on the small size in comparison to neighbouring countries.
All rooms are non-smoking and have Hollywood Twin-beds (twin beds joined together) which means large beds for couples and separate beds for those who prefer.
Dining
Breakfast at the Mume gets very good reviews and consists of Western standards such as yoghurt, boiled egg, pastries etc.
Expect Japanese Green tea on arrival.
The location means that there are literally dozens of places to eat within easy walking distance of the hotel.
