The River Resort is a 14-room boutique hotel in Champassak close to Wat Phou and 20 miles or so from Pakse.
River Resort is one of the most comfortable boutique hotels in southern Laos and offers contemporary, clean, bright and fresh rooms in free standing villas with views of the river and mountains.
The River Resort is a very comfortable option in this part of Laos and is very well run.
The hotel has a nice swimming pool by the river, a welcome feature.
It’s quite possible to use River Resort as a base for trips to Wat Phou and full day tours to the Bolaven Plateau.
What’s so Special?
The views of the river are great and all villas have a little balcony or patio. Sit on the balcony and watch the fishermen set their traps in the morning.
The location is very tranquil with views of the river, rice paddies and mountains. It’s easy to get lulled into lingering longer here and tune in to the pace of the river.
Sunsets over the river are a real highlight.
Bear in mind
The beds are a little bit hard for some.
Take some insect repellent as the restaurant is semi-open.
There are just 14 en-suite and air-conditioned rooms at the River Resort.
Riverfront and Pond Garden Villas have double or single beds and offer views of the mountains or river from the comfort of a balcony or patio.
Rooms are fresh and simply furnished with white-washed walls and decorative wall hangings.
Bathrooms have a shower but no bathtub.
