Virunga Lodge
Virunga Lodge is a charming lodge, less than an hour’s drive to the Volcanoes National Park and offering spectacular views over the Virunga Massif and Ruhondo and Bulera lakes.
The lodge consists of just 10 spacious chalets (or bandas) set on a high ridge amongst the terraced hillsides.
Beds are draped with mosquito nets and the chalets are attractively furnished with African artefacts.
Walk-in showers and wide verandas with commanding views are two great features of these rooms.
The main central area has a large stone fireplace which offers a convivial atmosphere in which to recount tales of wildlife encounters.
What’s so Special?
Is it one of the best views in Africa? We think so.
There are several peaceful spots around the grounds from which to admire the views, and of course from the chalet’s private verandas.

The lodge has some eco-policies in place including solar power usage and the utilisation of local products in the lodge.
