Xugana Island Lodge is situated on a private concession and takes full advantage of this magnificent site.
The lodge accommodates just 16 guests in large raised reed and thatch lagoon facing chalets, with en-suite facilities and private viewing decks situated on the shaded fringe of the island.
An open boma and al fresco dining area overlooks the expanse of pristine water that makes up the permanent Delta.
The open-sided thatched lounge, bar and dining areas are set back under the ebony and African Mangosteen tree canopy, and the swimming pool, located within the mature gardens in the centre of the island, is a perfect place to relax.
Guests can either explore the delta by motorboat, mokoro, or take leisurely walks on surrounding islands in the concession.
This provides the opportunity to experience a classic Okavango Delta safari.
Bird watching opportunities are outstanding, and fishing for bream and tiger fish is offered.
What’s so Special?
Xugana Lagoon is widely accepted as being the most spectacular permanent water site in the entire Okavango Delta.
Bear in Mind
Xugana Island Lodge doesn’t accept children under the age of six. Families with children aged 6-11 will be required to book private activities at an additional cost, the nature of which may be subject to the discretion of the managers or guides.
Children aged 12-15 must share accommodation with a parent.
No childcare or babysitting service is provided and children remain the responsibility of their parents at all times.
Due to its remote and unspoilt location, there are no phone, email or internet facilities at Xugana Island Lodge. There is also no cell phone coverage.
However, Lodge Managers are in constant two-way radio contact with the Maun Operations Office through whom important messages can be relayed.
