Lake Kariba in northern Zimbabwe was formed in the late 1950’s by the damming of the Zambezi River and is one of the world’s largest man-made stretches of water. Lake Kariba of course offers water-based activities along with traditional game drives. Wildlife viewing and birding are spectacular here and Lake Kariba is renowned for spectacular sunsets and evening boat cruises. Matusadona National Park is just 20 km from Kariba town and is a separate National Park with excellent game viewing. Lake Kariba safari lodges include the luxurious Bumi Hills and Changa Safari Camps in Matusadona National Park.
