June marks the arrival of the Southwest monsoon in Myanmar. By the end of June much of the country will be experiencing short but intense afternoon downpours often accompanied by spectacular thunderstorms. Still, many dry days can often be experienced in June and this is not a bad month to be touring Myanmar, with prices lower and availability of accommodation wider.
Humidity levels are still high at this time of year, although the air is often cleared by an afternoon storm or by sea breezes by the coast. Temperatures are actually a little bit lower than April and May as the breeze tends to cool things down just a touch.
Hot and dry conditions can still be expected in the central plains around Bagan and Mandalay.
This isn’t the best time to be by the coast in Myanmar and many beach resorts in Myanmar close down completely during this time of year.
