Like most countries in Central America sharing a tropical climate, Nicaragua has 2 marked seasons.
Summer or dry season, which runs from December to April and winter or rainy season, taking place May through November.
However, temperatures in Nicaragua are consistent all-year-round ranging from 12°-28°C though they vary with altitude (the highlands enjoy of a cooler, spring-like weather).
During rainy season, the Pacific Coast gets rainfalls in the afternoon and mornings are generally sunny.
The Atlantic Coast is wet, hot and humid throughout the year with tropical storms visiting the coast in September and October.
We recommend to visit Nicaragua in December, as the rainy season is over and everything looks lush and green, plus is not too hot.
December is also a great time for bird watching in Nicaragua’s rainforests and snorkelling in the Caribbean side.
