El Galleon is a dive resort in Puerta Gallera offering excellent value and facilities for those looking for a dive holiday in the Philippines.
El Galleon is part of Asia Divers, an excellent 5 Star PADI Dive Centre in Puerto Gallera.
The diving is superb, with everything from caves to wrecks using a variety of gas mixes from air to Nitrox or Trimix.
Accommodation at El Galleon ranges from budget rooms to a spacious Penthouse.
El Galleon is nestled amongst the coconut palms by the beach and has a small swimming pool by the poolside cottages.
Getting to El Galleon is easy from Manila. From Manila it’s a transfer to the port of Batangas from where it’s a 45-minute boat ride to Puerto Galera where the resort meets guests off the boat.
What’s so Special?
With underwater visibility up to 30 metres, the clear water around Puerta Gallera’s 30 or so dive sites make a stay here a great option for a dive holiday in the Philippines.
Established in 1987, Asia Divers is one of only two Philippine dive centres qualified to such a high standard (PADI CDC). Beginners can take an introduction to SCUBA or full PADI Open Water Diver course. They have two Dive Centres on the beach.
Bear in mind
El Galleon is ideal for divers looking for a great value dive resort in the Philippines. For non-divers there are other resorts in the Philippines we’d rather recommend.
El Galleon isn’t ‘5-star’, despite how they sometimes describe themselves. Bear in mind that rooms are a little bit basic, service is friendly but not swish, and the feel is decidedly ‘retro’! Go for the diving, the beach, the bar, not for the rooms.
Bear in mind that a night in Manila on arrival or departure is often necessary and certainly recommended.
Rooms
Budget rooms come with a queen size bed or two single beds and ancient bathrooms.
Poolside Rooms have Queen-size beds and are right by the swimming pool.
Family Rooms can accommodate up to 2 extra beds.
The 9 Sea View rooms all have fantastic waterfront views.
Luxury One Bedroom Penthouse Apartments have private kitchens, large private balconies and adjoining living rooms, with spectacular sea views.
El Galleon Studio Apartments (for two) and Houses (for four) are set in a private annex ‘Waimea’, which offers some of the best views in Puerto Galera.

The Point Bar
The Point Bar is located between Sabang and Small Lalaguna Beach and is a convivial and lively bar, which attracts a broad range of customers – but usually a diving crowd.
Restaurant
Considered by many to be the best in Puerto Galera. French chef Antoine whips up a variety of cuisine with Gallic flair.
