Matemwe Bandas
Matemwe Bandas is a small, eco-chic, boutique hotel located on the unspoilt Northeastern coast of the island of Zanzibar.
Set on a spectacular white sand beach that leads to a shallow lagoon with clear, turquoise waters and coral reefs, Matemwe Bandas provides a home-from-home ambience on a beach stretching for miles in both directions.
Matemwe Bandas consists of just five spacious stilted thatched beach bungalows constructed with local palm frond and coco wood.
Rooms feature four-poster beds and safari chairs and tables.
Kite-surfing, spice tours and swimming with dolphins, are some of the more active pursuits on offer, or simply unwind with a traditional Zanzibari massage, lounge in a hammock by the pool, sunbathe on the beach or relax on your deck to the sound of gentle waves.

Matemwe Bandas Hotel is faithful to its natural surroundings as well as to the traditions of local master craftsmanship.
The hotel is a fair trade business and is substantially locally owned, whilst every member of the team (including four young apprentices) hails from the adjacent village of Matemwe.
