River Kwai - Kanchanaburi
The district of Kanchanaburi just a couple of hours drive to the west of Bangkok is a scenic region of Thailand with plenty to offer.
A night or two here as an add-on from Bangkok will be amply rewarded. Highlights include the infamous Bridge of the River Kwai, the so-called “Death Railway” built by P.O.W’s during World War Two, some fine jungle and river scenery and the chance for soft adventure activities such as elephant riding and bamboo rafting.
Stay overnight at the excellent River Kwai Jungle Rafts or Hin Tok Luxury Camp.
