Sri Lanka has some beautiful stretches of beach, practically all down the West Coast of the country into the deep south.
The West coast beaches of Sri Lanka are more developed than those further south but there are still some beautiful stretches of beach.
The best Sri Lankan beaches are in the deep south, to the East of Galle. Here, long stretches of palm fringed beaches line the coastline, with the occaisional boutique hotel.
A stay by one of the beaches in Southern Sri Lanka can be easily combined with a stay or visit to the historic town of Galle, some game viewing in Yala National Park or with a stay in Sri Lanka's spiritual heartland of Kandy.
Sri Lanka's East Coast beaches have seen quite a growth in recent years and are a great option when the climate is not so great in the western and the southern beaches.
