January is high season, so prices are high and it pays to book in advance when deals can still be had. For a city and beach break combine with Dubai or even Singapore.
The winter months are a great time for visiting South Africa's Western Cape. Cape Town and the Western Cape should be enjoying beautiful clear days with plenty of sunshine and warm weather.
