Philippines in August

In August many of the main tourist areas in the Philippines are affected by the Southwest monsoon, bringing late afternoon downpours.

Manila, Northern and Western Palawan, Southern Mindoro, Iliolo on Panay and Southwestern Negros have their highest rainfall between May and October, peaking in August and September.

The central islands of the Visayas including Boracay, Southern Cebu and most of Negros also experience wetter conditions at this time of year, although the seasonal differences are less pronounced than further west.

The North of Cebu, Bohol, Western Leyte, much of the East coast of Luzon, Southern Mindanao and Siquijor Island have more or less and even amount of rainfall throughout the year, with no clear dry or rainy season.

The exposed eastern coastal areas including Bicol, Southern Leyte, Eastern Mindanao and Eastern Samar will still see some rain at this time of year, but not as much as in the wet season of November to April.
