China's first deluxe City Heritage Boutique Hotel, Mansion Hotel Shanghai captures the essence of old Shanghai in a 5-storey 1930’s period building.

Set in a French Concession location, entering Mansion Hotel Shanghai's ground floor lobby is like strolling into the 1930’s, with period pieces creating an Art Deco era ambience, and intriguing black and white photographs on the walls, hinting at the Mansions historic associations.

A member of Small Luxury Hotels of the World, Mansion Hotel Shanghai fuses classic French and Oriental architecture and offers just 30 very spacious and elegantly furnished rooms.

Mansion Hotel Shanghai was originally built as the clubhouse of one of China’s most powerful syndicate bosses and has quite a history, which oozes from the corridors and rooms of this most enigmatic of Shanghai boutique hotels.

What’s so Special?

Mansion Hotel Shanghai has the feel of a private members club more than a hotel and offers a real sense of history. Staying here is a destination in itself.

The historic associations and the ambience of Mansion Hotel Shanghai makes it feel as if you’re stepping back in time or into an episode of Poirot.

Bear in mind

Mansion Hotel Shanghai's website doesn’t do the hotel or the rooms justice at all.

Rooms are luxurious, the hotel however isn’t flawless, nor is the service completely polished.

For those looking for a mini Mandarin Oriental, this might not be the right choice, but for a genuinely atmospheric place to stay in Shanghai, China Mansions is an excellent choice.

Superior & Deluxe Rooms are a very spacious 45 sq. m. designed with the elegance of old Shanghai but with the comfort of all the latest amenities.

Marble floored bathrooms feature Jacuzzi baths and high-pressure full body showers and Hermes toiletries. Some rooms feature balconies with great views over the city.

Plush thick carpets, antique furniture, King-size beds, a luxurious ottoman and comfortable armchair create a luxurious feel to the rooms.

Some twin-bedded rooms have a rather odd wooden screen between the beds, creating some privacy.

Suites are 65 square metres and follow a similar design with the addition of a living space.
