We love Shichahai for its mix of local design and high levels of service as well as the peaceful and authentic location.

Guests can enjoy shadow art performances and light refreshments in the comfortable lounge area with the chance to see backstage and play with the shadow puppets, and let the artists demonstrate this early form of Chinese entertainment.

Bear in mind

We think the hotel is great value, but rooms are a little plain and basic, so bear in mind that it's not a hotel to choose if a lushly furnished room is a priority.

Beds are comfortable though and the feedback we get is that customers are happy with the rooms.

Standard Rooms

Standard Rooms are simply furnished with decent sized bathrooms with shower cubicle.

Windows don't open on to anything and there is no in-room fridge.

Deluxe Rooms

Deluxe Rooms have futon style mattresses on traditionally heated Chinese stone beds.

Premium Rooms

Premium Rooms offer more space, larger windows, window seats and bathtubs.
