Thurizza Hotel Bagan (formerly Thiri Marlar) is a great value boutique hotel in Bagan offering simple accommodation in close proximity to the temples at Bagan and with views of the Irrawaddy River.
With a handful of rooms in a two-storey building, Thurizza Hotel is our favoured budget accommodation in Bagan.
There are several nice places to eat within easy walking distance of Thurizza Hotel and some of Bagan’s most interesting temples, including ‘Lawkananda’ and ‘Two Sisters’ are within easy walking distance.
The centre of new Bagan is about 10 minutes on foot from the hotel.
What’s so Special?
Building height is limited in Bagan’s archaeological zone, but nevertheless, Thurizza Hotel offers a wonderful view of the temples from the roof-top terrace.
One of the highlights of a stay here is a candle-lit dinner on the roof-top terrace at sunset.
Bear in mind
With limited availability Thurizza Hotel gets booked up early so it pays to book ahead.
Rooms are clean, spacious but simply furnished.
The rooftop terrace has become a little bit neglected which is a shame but nevertheless it's still an extremely popular value option in Bagan.
Dining
Thurizza Hotel Bagan Hotel has a small restaurant and offers candle-lit dinners on the terrace which are very popular.
Burmese, Chinese and European dining is available on request.
